How Avid Thinking works.

A human-led K–12 and college learning studio connecting question support, private tutoring, focused bootcamps, printed visual books, field learning, accessibility support, college counseling, and evidence-based certificate pathways.

Chris is the educator and learning-systems builder behind Avid Thinking. He began tutoring mathematics in 2011 and studied at Stanford across computer science, human biology, engineering, humanities, and interdisciplinary education.

Membership is $99 per month. Each active month includes 20 request credits. A complete Homework Help response uses 1 credit, and a custom learning material request of up to 30 pages uses 2 credits. Short member messages use 0 credits and are unlimited within reasonable use, with replies provided as availability allows. Active members also receive the $79 per hour tutoring rate instead of the standard $119 direct rate.

Choose the subject, learner level, preferred date, time window, and a session length of at least one hour. Sending the request moves to the final reservation-payment review. Chris confirms availability by email. Wyzant remains available as a separate marketplace booking route.

The current publishing line is physical-only: high-quality printed books and booklets designed for annotation, conversation, practice, and returning to a difficult idea without another feed competing for attention. A future access code may support a printed title, but it will not replace the physical book.

The first two physical titles are offered at a $49 price during a one hour browser based preorder window before returning to the planned $119 regular price. Target delivery is late Summer 2026 and remains subject to production and freight timing. Shipping address, any shipping cost, the satisfaction guarantee, and final refund terms appear before payment.

Most intensives are designed as 8–12 week programs with roughly 2–3 hours of weekly commitment. AP subject programs may run for a semester. Every program states its schedule before checkout.

A pathway combines required bootcamps, course assessments, submitted work, and a proctored capstone. The final Avid Capstone Score is reported from 0.0 to 10.0 in 0.5 point increments. Learners may retake the capstone, with a replacement public score marked as reassessed. Avid Thinking completion records are supplemental educational records, not school credit, professional licensure, or a guaranteed academic result.

Each issued certificate records the pathway, assessed requirements, score, issue date, and certificate ID. Avid Thinking handles verification directly against the issuance record while keeping private learner identity information out of public display.

Families may request a need-based reduction of up to 50% when funding and documented need allow. Select Contact, choose Membership or scholarship, and send a short note. Avid Thinking follows up with the separate application. Selected support is offered with Church of Meta.
