Use an assessed learner pathway as the subject prerequisite.
Submit the certificate ID. After the record is confirmed, complete the advanced educator knowledge assessment and live teaching demonstration for the selected subject.
Educator and tutor certificate of mastery
Qualify through an Avid learner certificate or reviewed academic evidence, then pass a separate identity checked educator assessment. Successful applicants receive a subject specific record that documents what was assessed and may request a public directory profile.

A separate educator assessment
Two eligibility routes
Eligibility allows a candidate to take the educator assessment. It does not guarantee an award.
Submit the certificate ID. After the record is confirmed, complete the advanced educator knowledge assessment and live teaching demonstration for the selected subject.
A degree, transcript, college course record, AP score report, professional qualification, or comparable evidence may satisfy the subject prerequisite. Evidence is reviewed before an educator assessment is scheduled.
If the submitted evidence does not establish the subject prerequisite, the applicant receives the relevant learner certificate pathway and assessment requirements.
Assessment request
Choose the Avid certificate route or upload prior academic evidence. The short request opens in a focused checkout-style flow, then gives you a final review before anything is submitted.
What candidates complete
Confirm identity, eligibility route, subject scope, and the authenticity of submitted academic evidence.
Complete a secure assessment designed above the learner pathway level for the subject being documented.
Teach a short lesson, diagnose an error, respond to feedback, and explain the instructional decisions made.
Demonstrate privacy, truthful representation, learner safety, appropriate boundaries, and sound referral judgment.
Enrollment, preparation materials, and fees do not guarantee eligibility or a passing result. Retake requirements, score reporting, review, and appeal terms are provided before the assessment is scheduled.
Optional public directory
After a certificate is issued, the holder may request a public Avid Certified Tutor profile with a photo, short practice statement, assessed subject scope, credential ID, and one tutor-selected contact link. Avid Thinking takes no commission on tutoring arranged through the directory.
The Educator and Tutor Certificate of Mastery is a proprietary, nondegree, assessment based educational award. It is not a state teaching credential, professional license, institutional accreditation, school or college credit, employment authorization, or guarantee of third party recognition. Each school, family, platform, or employer decides how it evaluates the record.
